For Immediate Release:
PLANO, Texas (January 30, 2026) — West Plano Emergency Room, a state‑of‑the‑art Hospital Outpatient Department (HOPD) of The Colony ER Hospital and an affiliated Nutex Health, Inc. facility, is proud to announce a new partnership with Athra, a national leader in behavioral health and substance‑use treatment. This collaboration brings concierge‑level psychiatric care and medically supervised detox services directly into the emergency environment—enhancing access to comprehensive mental health support across the Dallas–Fort Worth region.
This expanded partnership strengthens West Plano Emergency Room’s mission to provide whole‑person, concierge‑level care by creating a supportive, calming setting for individuals in acute behavioral health or substance‑related crises. Through this enhanced service model, patients will now have streamlined access to:
- Mental health evaluations and crisis consultations (specific hours)
- Medically supervised detox protocols
- Interventional psychiatry for treatment‑resistant depression, including Ketamine therapy
- Coordinated care pathways with local behavioral health providers, including psychiatrists, therapists, and specialty treatment programs
“Just as with our main hospital, our two Hospital Outpatient Departments (HOPDs)—West Plano Emergency Room and Wylie ER—allow us to extend our reach deeper into their respective communities. With this expanded presence, our ability to provide advanced emergency care, along with mental health evaluations conducted by board‑certified providers, is a true game changer. Offering these services under one roof and within a single visit is a strong testament to our vision and mission to serve our communities,” said Russell Kaiser, RN, BSN, MSN, Chief Nursing Officer at The Colony ER Hospital.
Athra’s team—comprised of board‑certified psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and licensed mental health clinicians—will work alongside the clinical staff at West Plano Emergency Room to deliver responsive, collaborative behavioral health support. Their flexible care model is designed specifically for micro-hospital and outpatient emergency environments, ensuring continuity for both acute and longer‑term psychiatric needs.
“Mental health emergencies deserve the same urgency and expertise as any other medical condition. Partnering with Athra strengthens our ability to care for patients with psychiatric needs and ensures they receive thoughtful, high-quality support close to home,” said Trent Stephenson, DO, Medical Director at West Plano Emergency Room and Wylie ER. “We are excited to partner with Athra to better meet the growing needs in our communities. This collaboration allows us to provide more timely, compassionate, and specialized mental health care for patients who come to West Plano ER during their most vulnerable moments.”
This joint effort reflects West Plano Emergency Room’s commitment to expanding innovative, patient‑centered care—bringing integrated physical and mental health services together in a high‑quality outpatient emergency setting.
